Pop singer Lady Gaga was a fan of Israel before she performed here several weeks ago – and she’s an even bigger fan now, she told the Independent newspaper in London last weekend. Commenting on her recent show, Gaga said that “Tel Aviv was magnificent. The world view of Israel is just not reality. It’s in a beautiful place, the people are in good spirits.”

“I had a very emotional show with those fans. It was wonderful,” she added.

Gaga has been chatting up Israel in several recent interviews, as she continues performing on her European tour. In an interview with the UK’s New Music Express, Gaga said that she felt “a beautiful energy” in Israel, and in another interview with the AP, she said that she had sought advice from the White House about whether or not visiting Israel was a good idea.

“I was very confident [about the trip] based on my relationships with lots of internal, political people,” Gaga said. “We’re very lucky to have great relationships with the White House. They let us know it would be very safe while we were there, and I hope to share that with the world so that they know it is safe to be in Tel Aviv right now,” she said.

Even before her performance, Gaga managed to upset Arab audiences by greeting Israeli audiences with Shalom. “Shalom, Israel,” the pop superstar said in the brief greeting. “I’m so excited to perform my new tour in Tel Aviv.”

Many Arab users labeled her as “disgusting” and devilish” and having “no sensitivities” amid the recent fighting in Gaza.“She is disgusting and I never liked her because her values are nonexistent. Now she has validated everything I have ever thought of it,” one Facebook user wrote, according to Arab newspaper Al Arabiya.
