In retaliation to 105 rockets fired, IDF hits 16 Hamas targets in Gaza

Israeli strikes in Gaza focused mostly on Hamas’ weapons factories, missile launching capabilities, Hamas’ naval operational headquarters and their underground tunnels.

A total of 105 rockets were fired into Israel between Tuesday and Wednesday, most by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad with some minor participation from Hamas, the IDF confirmed on Wednesday morning.

In response, Israel countered with approximately 16 airstrikes, mostly on Hamas positions, to hold the group responsible for what occurs in Gaza.

IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Daniel Hagari said that despite an apparent ceasefire starting around 5:30 a.m. “all options are on the table” should any Palestinian group fire additional rockets at Israel. Continue Reading »

In what seems as two coordinated attacks targeting top Palestinian Islamic Jihad commanders, after the assassination of Baha Abu Al-Ata in Gaza, reports emerged from Syria claiming that the home of senior figure Akram al-Ajouri was attacked on Tuesday morning.

The IDF killed Islamic Jihad commander Bahaa Abu al-Atta in a Gaza airstrike overnight Monday, in a resumption of targeted killing for the first time since 2014. The strike was followed hours later by rocket fire across southern and central Israel.

Islamic Jihad admits pregnant woman & baby killed by defective rocket, not IDF

LEAKED: In exchange for their silence on the circumstances of the baby’s death, Islamic Jihad officials met with the victims’ family to secure them compensation and deem the baby a “martyr,” admitting, “There is no doubt that the baby’s death has nothing to do with the enemy’s [Israel’s] planes.”

The Islamic Jihad, one of the terror organizations responsible for the recent wave of attacks against Israel, admitted that the baby that was killed in Gaza during the latest escalation died as a result of a misfired rocket, TPS reported on Monday.

Israeli forces on Wednesday night targeted Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip in response to a rocket fired from the enclave that landed in an open area in Israel’s south.

“A short while ago, one launch was identified from the Gaza Strip at Israeli territory. In response, an IDF tank targeted a Hamas military post in the southern Gaza Strip,” Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.

Islamic Jihad released pictures on Thursday of the new rocket with a heavy warhead, which they announced had been fired toward Ashkelon during the escalation of violence earlier this week.

The IDF has been concerned about heavy mortars which could carry 150-200 kilogram warheads, and which would inflict heavy damage on the Israeli home front.
