Reference to Israel’s National Bird Sparks Outrage

Anti-Israel activists criticized a British publication for mentioning Israel’s national bird.

Anti-Israel activists harshly criticized the British publication the Morning Star for publishing a quiz in which one of the questions referred to Israel’s national bird, the Hoopoe.

In a letter to the newspaper, George Abendstern Chairman of the Manchester Palestine Solidarity Campaign (MPSC) expressed his dismay by stating, “I often wonder why so many of its readers find the Morning Star so exasperating. Despite its condemnation of zionists (sic) it yet finds space to include an item in its daily quiz about Israel’s national bird.”

New York Times Ad Slams BDS

An ad placed in the New York Times on Wednesday accused BDS supporters of contributing to anti-Semitism worldwide.

American conservative writer and advocate, David Horowitz, placed an advertisement in the New York Times on Wednesday, accusing supporters of the Boycotts, Divestments and Sanctions (BDS) movement of contributing to anti-Semitism worldwide.

“The Holocaust began with boycotts of Jewish stores and ended with death camps,” the ad begins. “The calls for a new Holocaust can be heard throughout the Middle East and Europe as well.”

It also references Mohammed Merah, the terrorist who killed 4 people at a Jewish school in Toulouse, France last month, claiming that “ancient blood libels” supported by the BDS movement contributed to the murders. Continue Reading »

Buy Israeli Goods weekend gets underway

Pro-Israel organization StandWithUs announces ‘BIG’ day for March 30, urges shoppers to purchase Israeli-made products in bid to counter global anti-Israel boycott day

For the past few years, store-owners worldwide who chose to sell Israeli made products and their customers have had to face a daily gauntlet of protestors seeking to boycott Israeli goods through the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which is actively seeking to operate against Israel on a global leve.

Now, StandWithUs, a pro-Israeli organization is fighting back. StandWithUs is urging schools, campuses, synagogues, community organizations, and individuals to celebrate Israel by designating March 30 as the day to buy up Israeli goods at local stores – the BIG weekend

NYC co-op votes against Israeli product boycott

Members of Brooklyn food co-op reject a boycott meant to protest Israel’s policies on Palestinians

A New York City co-op’s proposed boycott against Israeli products to protest the Israeli government’s policies toward Palestinians has been overwhelmingly defeated.

Tuesday night’s vote by members of the Park Slope Food Co-op in Brooklyn rejected a motion on whether to hold a referendum on the boycott, with 1,005 voting against and 653 in favor.

Celebrate Israel by Buying Israeli Passover Goods

Jewish communities are urged to celebrate Israel on March 30 by buying Israeli-made products, just in time for Passover.

StandWithUs, the non-profit organization dedicated to informing the public about Israel and combating anti-Semitism, is urging all members of the international Jewish community to celebrate the Jewish state by designating March 30 as the day to buy Israeli goods at local stores.
