Just months before it becomes operational, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) and the Israel Aerospace Industries on Wednesday presented the new Israeli stealth jet, “MARS2 ELI-3150” at the Air Show in Paris.

Israeli Laser Weapon Tests Successful, IDF Begins Procurement

Israel’s ‘Iron Beam’, the first-of-its-kind defensive laser-system will be highly cost-efficient, as each use would cost just a few dollars as opposed to a single Iron Dome interceptor missile that cost tens of thousands of dollars.

The Defense Ministry announced on Thursday it would be signing a contract in the coming days to begin procurement of an experimental high-end, laser-based rocket defense system.

In the framework of the deal, state-owned defense contractor Rafael Advanced Defense Systems would supply the Israeli Air Force with the very first laser launchers to the tune of hundreds of millions.

The ground-based laser system — dubbed Iron Beam — was originally planned to generate a high-power laser beam at a volume of about 100 kilowatts in a bid to neutralize a host of airborne threats, including rockets, mortar shells, drones and missiles. Continue Reading »

Israel’s newest corvette missile ship arrives from Germany

It will take around 18 months for Israel to complete installing the latest technologies and weapons systems, 90% of which are uniquely Israeli-made, on the INS Magen, the newest and most technologically advanced Sa’ar 6 class corvette missile ship.

Israel begins “Eitan” production, first 8-wheeled APC for IDF

With 2 years of testing behind them, the Armored Vehicles Directorate at the Israel Ministry of Defense decided on the production of the ‘Eitan’ APC, equipped with an unmanned 30mm cannon turret & the developed in Israel, ‘Trophy’ advanced defense system, operational for the IDF by the end of 2021.

The Israel Defense Forces administration began regular production of the “Eitan” – the IDF’s first wheeled armored personnel carrier, resembling the Soviet-era BRDM2 (Combat Reconnaissance/Patrol Vehicle) but an 8-wheeled armored combat vehicle version based on the technology of the Merkava and the Namer AFVs.

It is capable of carrying 12-13 combat soldiers, and was developed and built following the lessons of Operation Protective Edge and is expected to replace the IDF’s veteran M113 APC. Continue Reading »

The IDF killed Islamic Jihad commander Bahaa Abu al-Atta in a Gaza airstrike overnight Monday, in a resumption of targeted killing for the first time since 2014. The strike was followed hours later by rocket fire across southern and central Israel.

Two Israeli-made Orbiter-3 tactical drones were shot down in Libya by troops allied with strongman Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA).
