Canadian PM Harper to Announce 1st Trip to Israel

 

Prime Minister Stephen Harper reportedly planning to make his visit to Israel announcement at upcoming JNF event Sunday evening.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to announce his his first trip to Israel at the Jewish National Fund’s (JNF) annual dinner tomorrow (Sunday) in Toronto, according to Shalom Toronto.

Harper, who has been Prime Minister since being elected for the first of his two terms in 2006, has been a staunch supporter of Israel, a stance which found its expression shortly after his election, when he stood by the Jewish state during the Second Lebanon War against Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah. B’nai Brith Canada visits the Temple Mount to witness raw antisemitism

Canadian B’nai Brith delegation felt humiliated on the Temple Mount. Upon entering, the Canadian women were forced to buy unattractive shawls to cover up with. Then 50 Arab women, began screaming “Allah Akhbar” repeatedly.

B’nai Brith Canada winded down its 10-day annual mission to Israel on Tuesday morning, May 28, with a visit to Har HaBayit – the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest site. Although the group had been made aware of the anti-Jewish intolerance at the Temple Mount – which remains under control of the Jordanian Waqf [Islamic trust] – they were shocked by the intensity of the antisemitism. PA Pissed-Off After Canada’s FM John Baird Meets Livni in Eastern Jerusalem

Canada’s FM meeting Justice Minister Livni in her eastern Jerusalem office is a “slap in the face”, says former PA FM Nabil Shaath.

“The Canadians have been making a name for themselves by speaking out on the int’l scene in a way which is all too rare,” Israeli FM spokesman Yigal Palmor added, saying they were demonstrating an unusual “courage & moral stance”.

The Palestinian Authority is fuming after Canada’s Foreign Minister, John Baird, met Israel’s Justice Minister Tzipi Livni in her eastern Jerusalem office this week.

Yair Lapid ‘vigorously opposes’ Israel – Canada Potash deal

Finance minister Yair Lapid to form a committee to review state’s rights to its natural resources. Lapid opposes ICL purchase by Canadian company Potash & says the Israeli public should be the 1st to enjoy the nation’s natural resources.

Canadian FM: ‘Canada won’t let the Jews or Israel stand alone’

Abbas & the PA should have used the support  received in the UN to reach out to Israel for peace talks, said Canadian foreign minister.

Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, who delivered a supportive speech of Israel at the UN before its vote Thursday on the Palestinian statehood, said Friday “the bottom line is we will not let the Jewish people and the State of Israel stand alone when the going gets tough.”

Baird, in a phone interview from New York, said he had “absolutely no hesitation” about taking the podium and opposing the Palestinian bid, something he knew was not a popular position in the hall.
