Israel Defense Forces medical teams transferred two wounded Syrian children into Israel late Tuesday night for treatment in Safed’s Rivka Sieff Medical Center.

One of the wounded, a 15-year-old, is in serious condition after suffering multiple internal wounds and having already undergone surgery in Syria. The other, 9-years-old, is in moderate condition after suffering shrapnel wounds all over his body and losing his right eye.

This is the second time this week that Syrian civilians have been brought into Israel to receive treatment at Sieff Medical Center, bringing the total number hospitalized there since the start of the civil war to 30. There are currently four other Syrians being treated there, one in the Intensive Care Unit in serious condition, and the other three in surgery.

On Sunday, a Syrian civilian being treated in the ICU in Sieff Medical Center died of his wounds and his body was to be tranported back to Syria. Two weeks ago, IDF forces transported the man, along with a number of additional Syrian war casualties to Sieff Medical Center for emergency treatment. He was hospitalized in the intensive care unit in critical condition after being wounded in the heavy fighting raging near the Israel-Syria border.

Two other young Syrian patients have been treated in Israel in the last week: On Sunday, IDF medical teams brought a wounded 13-year-old Syrian girl to the trauma unit at Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya, and a 16-year-old boy who had been moderately to severely wounded in the conflict in Syria was treated at Sieff last Thursday.
