On Wednesday night, the Israel Defense Forces, in cooperation with the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), the Israel Police and the Border Police, launched a large arrest operation in Judea and Samaria,

“In light of the rise in violent incidents and terrorism in Judea and Samaria in recent days, and as part of an effort by security forces to restore quiet to the area, it was decided to initiate an arrest operation,” the IDF said in a statement.

It said 55 members of terrorist organizations had been detained during the operation. A number of senior terrorist operatives were among the detainees.

“This operation was made possible by strong intelligence and freedom of operational activity in Judea and Samaria,” the statement said. “The IDF will continue to act to restore order in the area and to prevent the penetration of hostile terrorist activities into Israel.”
