Russian news quoted the Palestinian UN ambassador as saying moving US Embassy to Jerusalem would be in violation of int’l law and U.N. resolutions, and should Trump follow through, the Palestinian Authority would “unleash all diplomatic weapons” and “make life miserable for the White House.”

The Palestinian Authority on Sunday vowed to “unleash all diplomatic weapons” at its disposal to prevent President-elect Donald Trump’s administration from meeting its campaign promise to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Russian news network RT quoted Palestinian U.N. envoy Riyad Mansour as saying such a move would be in violation of international law and U.N. resolutions, and that should any steps be taken to realize it, the Palestinian Authority would “make life miserable for the White House.”
“If people attack us by moving the embassy to Jerusalem, which is a violation of Security Council resolutions — it is a violation of Resolution 181 of the U.N. General Assembly that was drafted by the U.S. … it means they are showing belligerency towards us,” Mansour was quoted by the i24 news website as telling a conference in Washington.
He was referring to the 1947 General Assembly resolution considered the key U.N. ruling that eventually led to Israel’s inception in 1948.
Mansour said that if the U.S. pursues moving its embassy to Jerusalem, “nobody should blame us for unleashing all of the weapons that we have in the U.N. to defend ourselves — and we have a lot of weapons in the U.N.” He added that the Palestinians “can make their [the U.S.’s] lives miserable every day with precipitating a veto on our admission as a member state” at the U.N.
The Palestinian Authority has “non-member observer state” status at the U.N. which entitles it to participate in the work of various U.N. bodies, such as UNESCO, where it has been pushing for anti-Israel resolutions.
According to the Walla news website, while Mansour noted that Palestinian diplomatic attrition would not involve appealing to the Security Council, where the U.S. has veto power, but he said he would call for multiple Security Council meetings to “open a Pandora’s box” and push for International Criminal Court action over the security fence and the settlement enterprise.
