Two rockets fired on Israel from Egypt’s Sinai – No injuries, no damage reported

Two rockets were fired at southern Israel from Egypt’s Sinai desert on Sunday evening, the Israeli army said.

The army and a spokesperson for the Eshkol Regional Council said that no injuries or damage was reported and that searches for projectiles are ongoing.

rockets are occasionally fired from Gaza toward Israel, launches from militants operating in Egypt have been more rare in recent years.

In the last few days there has been an uptick of attacks against Egyptian military targets in the Sinai, carried out by the region’s Islamic State offshoot.

Earlier on Sunday 24 militants and six Egyptian soldiers were killed in an attack on military outposts in the northern Sinai, the military said in a statement carried by Reuters.

Car bombs and rocket propelled grenades were used in the attacks, which IS reportedly claimed responsibility for.
