Jihadist group, Ansar Jerusalem, says attack was linked to anti-Islam film, & the group ‘determined to discipline the Jews for their heinous acts.’
A jihadist group called Ansar Jerusalem has claimed responsibility for Friday’s attack on Israel Defense Forces soldiers along the Israeli-Egyptian border.

In a statement published on Sunday, Ansar Jerusalem said the operation was a “disciplinary attack against those who insulted the beloved Prophet,” referring to a video denigrating the Prophet Mohammed that has sparked protests across the Muslim world.
Ansar Jerusalem said that it was “determined to discipline the Jews for their heinous acts,” accusing them of being involved in the poorly produced film.
The group said the three gunmen were Egyptians who trained for the operation, armed with Kalashnikov s, PKs, RPGs, hand grenades, and wearing explosive belts.
The group said three militants had crossed the border into Israel early Thursday and remained hiding until midday Friday, when they saw and attacked an Israeli patrol. An IDF soldier was killed and another wounded in the attack and Israeli troops ultimately shot and killed the three gunmen.
Ansar Jerusalem claimed responsibility for an attack on an Israeli bus along the Egyptian border in August 2011, in which eight Israelis and at least seven gunmen were killed. Last month, the group announced that one of its members who were involved in last year’s attack was killed by Mossad agents, who were aided by Egyptian spies.
