An Arab-Muslim female police officer serving in the Jerusalem District received death threats accusing her of being a “traitor”.

A resident of a village in northern Israel, where the officer herself lives, published her picture on the internet and wrote that she is a “traitor”. He also wrote that she is “serving in the occupation army oppressing her nation.”
The police are not taking the threats lightly and she has been placed on a threatened-persons list.
A source in the police called this harsh incitement and said that “there is substantial fear that her life is in danger.”
The police quickly opened the investigation and on Wednesday, they arrested 21-year old Halil Gara, a Hebrew University student who lives in the same village as the officer.
The investigators confiscated the student’s computer to examine it and on Wednesday he was brought into court. Police representative Major Hussein Dalki, charged him with incitement and threats and the suspect’s attorney claimed that what his client published is covered under the freedom of expression.
At the conclusion of the deliberation, the police asked to release Gara under restrictions and Judge Irit Cohen granted the motion.
