A year after his release from Hamas captivity, Gilad Schalit participates in wrestling tournament in Arad in memory of his commander, Lt. Hanan Barack, killed same day Gilad was captured
Arad mayor to Schalit: We always hoped you would take part in the event.
Six years after being abducted by Hamas and one year after his release, former soldier Gilad Schalit participated in an international wrestling tournament in memory of his tank commander, Lt. Hanan Barack, who was killed on the day Schalit was captured.
The wrestling tournament took place on Friday in the southern city of Arad. “This is the sixth year that this tournament is being held in memory of Hanan Barack, may his memory be blessed, and every year [before now] we held the tournament with the hope that Gilad would participate in it next year,” Arad Mayor Tali Ploskov told Schalit. “It is a big honor and a great joy to see you here.”
