A Saudi Arabian delegation flew to Israel about 10 days ago for meetings with high-ranking Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the semi-official Iranian Fars News Agency reported, citing Palestinian sources.

Fars also reported that Saudi representatives met with Israeli officials less than a week ago in Monaco. The Iranian report also cited an “Israeli radio” report, which said that Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Salman bin Sultan visited Israel and toured an army base along with members of the IDF General Staff.

Israel did not respond to the report.

Several Iranian reports have recently begun focusing on any semblance of a relationship between Saudi Arabia and Israel, perhaps trying to smear Saudi Arabia in popular Arab opinion, or to prove some sort of Sunni-Israeli conspiracy against Tehran.

Israel and Saudi Arabia were among the staunchest international opponents to the deal between Western powers and Iran to scale back elements of Tehran’s nuclear program.

Last month, The Sunday Times reported according to a “diplomatic source” that Israel and Saudi Arabia — who have no diplomatic relations — were working on contingency plans for a possible joint attack against Iran.
