Habayit Hayehudi announced Thursday that on Sunday the party intends to raise to vote a bill prohibiting the release of terrorists, shortly before the scheduled second release of terrorists, as agreed under the renewed talks.

“Releasing terrorists in return to Tzipi Livni‘s right to meet with (Saeb) Erekat is very severe,” a Habayit Hayehudi official said about the peace talks, which are at an impasse.

The party official referred to the reports that Netanyahu will promote settlement development beyond the green line, saying: “The attempt to bind building in the settlements with releasing murderers is cynical and morally wrong. It’d be best for the prime minister to neither release murderers nor build. It seems like a contemptuous attempt to both release murderers and defame the whole settlement venture.”

Regarding Tzipi Livni’s Hatnua, the official noted: “With all due respect, stopping the murderers from being released is even more important than the justification of Ms. Livni being in office.”

Habayit Hayehudi members stressed that the party’s ministers voted against the terrorists’ release even before the diplomatic negotiations started, “but the government decided otherwise. This Sunday, Habayit Hayehudi, along with the coalition chairperson, will raise to vote a bill that will halt these shameful terrorists’ release in the future, and we expect Likud will support this offer this time, as well,” the party official said.
