The National Union of Journalists in Britain 1st voted to support a boycott of Israel in 2007, in protest of the Second Lebanon War, but then later quashed it. The same is expected to happen once again, this spring.
The National Union of Journalists in Britain is planning to boycott Israel – again, the Telegraph reports. The union first voted to support a boycott (66-54) in 2007, in protest of the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006.

At the time concerns were raised that it compromised journalistic integrity and that it deviated from the union’s main priorities. Pressure resulted in the union’s national committee decision to unanimously cancel the decision, which in effect meant not moving forward with its implementation.
this same pattern will repeat itself in April, when a motion to “encourage members to boycott Israeli products” and formally express the union’s support for the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement will be raised and then tabled.
Last November, British Foreign Secretary William Hague addressed the issue directly. “This government has no truck with those who seek to delegitimize or boycott Israel at all,” he said. “We want to see an Israel… that is not constantly threatened with unjust boycotts or having to defend itself in international organizations.”
