A Palestinian man in his 20s was killed during clashes with IDF forces in the West Bank village Qabatiya overnight. Palestinian medical officials said he was shot in the chest and died of his wounds.

According to Palestinian reports, large IDF forces entered Qabatiya late on Wednesday with the purpose of arresting several suspects. Clashes ensued and left Ahmad Tazazaa dead. His body has been transferred to a hospital in Jenin.

Last week, Mohammed Assi, a member of the Islamic Jihad and one of the planners of the bombing attack on a Tel Aviv bus in November 2012, during Operation Pillar of Defense, was killed by an anti-tank missile fired at the tunnel where he had been hiding.

According to the defense establishment, Assi was planning another attack against Israeli civilians or IDF forces and refused to surrender to the forces surrounding the cave.

The Shin Bet added that two of Assi’s aides were detained in Tuesday’s raid: Muhammad Ibrahim Sais, 30, who was jailed by Israel for his activity in Islamic Jihad; and Abdullah Abu Assi, 22, from Beit Naima, who was also held by Israel in the past.
