The girl, identified as Halel Yaffa Ariel, was initially described by MDA as being in “very serious” condition with penetrating wounds to her upper body and was taken to hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds.

Today’s Second Palestinian Knife-Attack:

The attacker, identified as Mohammed Nasser Tarayra, 19, from the village of Bani Naim, just outside Hebron, was shot and killed, the Israel Defense Forces said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he expected the world to condemn the attack as it condemned recent attacks in Brussels and Orlando, and called on the Palestinian Authority to end incitement.

A Kiryat Arba spokesperson said the terrorist penetrated the town’s security perimeter and entered the Ramat Mamre (Givat Harsina) neighborhood.

He then broke into a house where he stabbed the sleeping girl in her bedroom, army and local officials said.

A civilian guard called to the scene was stabbed in the face by the attacker before the latter was shot by another guard.

The injured guard was reported to be conscious and also suffering wounds to his upper body, according to MDA.

Disturbing images after the shocking murder:

The army confirmed the assailant had broken into the settlement.

Officials warned residents to remain indoors as security forces conduct searches for any possible additional terrorists.

The attack was initially reported as a shooting, but later reports said the assailant stabbed his victims.
