DST ends in Israel at 2 a.m. Sunday, setting clocks back 1 hour

 

For 1st time, Israel starts winter clock in line with most European countries instead of weekend before Yom Kippur.

Daylight Saving Time will switch to Standard Time in the early hours of Sunday morning, marking Israel’s transition to the winter clock.

At 2 a.m. Sunday, clocks will be set back one hour to 1 a.m.

This year DST lasted 212 days, ending in late October instead of its previous endpoint before Yom Kippur.

Cabinet extends daylight savings time until the end of October

Cabinet agrees to keep daylight savings time in place until the end of October, despite ultra-Orthodox objections, rather than returning to standard time at the beginning of October.

Their main objection to DST, it makes Yom Kippur fast more difficult.

Daylight Savings Time (DST) will go into effect early Friday morning, March 29th, when Israelis will move their clocks forward from 2 am to 3 am.

DST will end later than usual this year, on October 6, some three weeks after Yom Kippur, in accordance with legislation passed by the previous Knesset.

The new law states that DST, known in Israel as “Summer Time,” will be extended to 193 days a year, starting from the Friday before the last Sunday in March (at 2 am) and ending on the first Sunday after the 1st of October (at 2 am). Continue Reading »

New Interior Minster Sa’ar to consider extending Daylight Savings Time
