NYP Report: Oprah Winfrey Refused to Meet With BDS Activists

 

The New York Post reported Sunday that Oprah Winfrey snubbed a BDS “delegation” that appeared at the “O” magazine’s New York offices with a letter, urging Winfrey to publicly reject Israeli jeweler Lev Leviev’s products.

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey was among this month’s targets of BDS pressure, the New York Post reported on Sunday. But the TV network owner, best known for her world-famous talk show, refused even to meet with the representatives of Adalah-NY, an advocacy group focused on boycotting Israel and Israeli products, who showed up at the New York offices of her magazine, “O,”  bearing a letter they wished her to sign, publicly rejecting the products of Uzbeki-Israeli billionaire “King of Diamonds” Lev Leviev. Debate over whether the BDS Movement – which calls for Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions against the State of Israel – is anti-Semitic has raged since its inception roughly a decade ago.

As proof of its anti-Semitism, BDS’s opponents point to the fact that it singles out the Jewish state (actually, specifically Israeli Jews and Jewish institutions/companies in Israel, not Israeli Arabs), while ignoring massive human rights violations elsewhere in the region – even, as in Syria for example, when they are carried out against other Palestinians.
