1,300 yr-old olive press unearthed at Ancient Shiloh

 

Ancient Shiloh, the capital of Israel for 369 years & home of the Ark of the Covenant, was also the region’s main manufacturer of olive oil as seen by the large size of the press and its proximity to a similar one found in 2011.

A 1,300-year-old public olive press was unearthed recently at the Ancient Shiloh archaeological park, in the Binyamin region of Judea and Samaria. The olive press is proof that aside from being the capital of ancient Israel for 369 years and housing the Ark of the Covenant, Shiloh was also the region’s main manufacturer of olive oil. Germany & Britain Block PA Olive Council Bid

Unilateral action to join Int’l Olive Council blocked over arguments the act violates conditions & jeopardizes peace talks.

Opposition by Germany and Britain have forced the Palestinian Authority (PA) to cancel their application to become a “member state” of the International Olive Council.

In April, as part of the peace talks with Israel, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas promised not to take unilateral action in joining international bodies.

Just recently Nabil Shaath, a senior official in the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), threatened that his organization was ready to join international organizations as the talks have failed to deliver results in the course of 5 months. Continue Reading »

Jews living in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) have argued for years that many Arabs in the region use the olive harvest as a pretext to prepare the ground for attacks on Israeli communities.
