IDF Officer, Soldier Wounded by Terrorist Fire

Gaza terrorists ambushed an IDF unit working near the Gaza security fence, wounding two; both evacuated to hospital

An IDF officer and soldier on Wednesday were wounded in a live fire incident near the Gaza security fence.

The two were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. IDF force returned fire at the location they believed the gunman had fired from.

An IDF official told Arutz Sheva that attacks on soldiers near the fence by Gaza’s assorted terror gangs are “routine” and typically focus on “quantity over quality.”

Placing explosives, sniping, firing mortars, and trying to move antitank weapons into place to fire are “regular” tactics, the official said. Continue Reading »

Church of Nativity Deportees Complain about Fate

Ten years after the end of the 39 day IDF siege, exiled terrorists say they have been forgotten.

Ten years have passed since the end of the 39-day IDF siege of the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem, where 39 terrorists had holed up. The siege was ended through an agreement that involved exiling the terrorists to other countries.

Bethlehem-based news agency Ma’an says the terrorists now feel “abandoned by the Palestinian Authority and all political factions.”

They have not been allowed to return to their families in Judea and Samaria, the agency notes.

Deportees had planned to demonstrate on Thursday but canceled the protest to support the terrorists on hunger strike in Israeli jails, a spokesman for the group – Fahmi Kanan – said at a press conference on Monday. Continue Reading »

Security barrier proves yet again to be a life-saver

28-Apr-12: Security barrier proves yet again to be a life-saver

from their blog: THIS ONGOING WAR

We have more than enough reason to write here about the plain dishonesty that seems to characterize much of the criticism of Israel’s security checkpoints strategy. We wrote about this last Saturday night when armed terrorists were stopped at a security crossing en route to carrying out an attack on Israeli civilians – see “21-Apr-12: Stopped two more armed jihadists“.

That was only the latest in a terribly long line of occasions when the existence of the part-built barrier, plus the network of manned crossing points through which Palestinian Arabs are frequently required to pass, plus the alertness of service personnel, and especially Israel’s Border Guard, all came together to prevent another terrorist outrage.

Three members of the Shukrun family were hospitalized overnight Thursday following an attack by a group of young Arabs. Two of the family members were moderately wounded in the attack, while the third suffered light injuries.

Police said they are looking into the possibility that the attack was nationalistically-motivated, but are exploring other possibilities as well

“I tried running away with my children and sister, but they kept coming back to hit us,” Tzipi Shukrun told Ynet. “They kids are traumatized.”

The family arrived at a park located in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, near the Jerusalem Cinematheque, to celebrate Independence Day. Continue Reading »
