The Anti-Defamation League welcomed on Friday the condemnation from the United States of the latest report by U.N. Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur Richard Falk on the human rights situation of Arabs living in Israel, and called on other member states of the Council to “denounce Falk and his outrageous abuse of the position he holds.”

THE HAGUE — A Dutch group monitoring rights in Iran urged the Netherlands and other European nations to join the United States and Canada in boycotting a U.N. forum on disarmament that will be chaired by Tehran.

Iran’s looming status as head of a UN disarmament body sparked outrage Monday from campaigners who said its nuclear program and arming of Syria and Islamist militias disqualified it from a place at the table. “This is like putting Jack the Ripper in charge of a women’s shelter,” said Hillel Neuer, head of Geneva-based UN Watch, announcing that the organization would organize protest events involving Iranian dissidents.

UNHRC ready to discuss West Bank settlement report

UN Council to examine resolutions filed against Israel after their investigators concluded that Israel could be culpable before the International Criminal Court.

 

The United Nations Human Rights Council will on Monday debate a report by its fact-finding mission on West Bank settlements, which concluded that Israel could be culpable for building over the pre-1967 lines before the International Criminal Court, if the Palestinians become party to the Rome Statute.

Human Rights Watch has removed Richard Falk, United Nations special rapporteur on Palestinian human rights, from one of its local committees.

Falk, who has compared Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians to the actions of the Nazis and suggested that the U.S. government may have had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks, was removed Tuesday from the international nongovernmental organization’s local committee in Santa Barbara, Calif.
