Israel breeds endangered Green sea turtles to save species

The Israeli Sea Turtle Rescue Center north of Tel Aviv is running a unique program that provides nesting areas and hatcheries for the endangered Green sea turtles, with some 200 turtle eggs expected to hatch by the end of 2019 breeding season.

MIKHMORET – On a Mediterranean beach in central Israel, a newly-hatched baby turtle fumbles along the sand, making its way to the sea for the very first time.

A newly hatched baby sea turtle makes its way into the Mediterranean Sea for the first time, as part of the Israeli Sea Turtle Rescue Center’s conservation program near Mikhmoret.
