Now Russian experts also to assist in Arafat’s exhumation

The joint team of Swiss & French investigators  will now also have Russian experts in exhuming the remains of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, scheduled for November 26.

 

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that Russian experts will join a team of Swiss and French investigators in exhuming the remains of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat later this month.

French Officials Confirm Future Exhumation of Arafat’s Body

French officials confirm that criminal investigators will order the exhumation of former PA Chairman Yasser Arafat’s body in November.

French officials said on Tuesday that criminal investigators will order to exhume former Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat’s body from his Ramallah grave next month, to try to discover the cause of his death.

According to the officials, they will visit Ramallah from November 26 to 28.

The Palestinian Authority confirmed the scheduled visit and said that a Swiss investigation team will conduct a separate visit to Ramallah at the same time. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still in progress. Continue Reading »

A French court has opened a murder inquiry into the death eight years ago of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, prosecutors said on Tuesday, following claims by his widow that he may have been poisoned.

Arafat died in a Paris military hospital in November 2004, a month after being flown, seriously ill, from his headquarters in Ramallah, where he had been essentially confined for more than two and a half years. Continue Reading »

French prosecutors have launched a formal murder investigation into the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in 2004, AFP news agency reported Tuesday.

AFP reported that the prosecutor’s office in the town of Nanterre west of Paris had ordered a murder investigation following a formal complaint by Arafat’s widow, Suha Arafat. The probe will be carried out by one or more investigating magistrate, who will have the power to summon witnesses. Continue Reading »
