REPORT: Israeli Minister talks of cooperation with Arab States during Saudi interview

 

In rare interview with Saudi news site, Elaph, Israel’s Minister of Jerusalem Affairs talks about cooperation with Arab States.

Likud Minister Ze’ev Elkin was interviewed by the Saudi-owned news site Elaph on diplomatic relations between Israel and other Middle Eastern countries, and Iran’s role in the region, the Israeli news site Ynet reported Friday.

Situation shows ground is fertile for cooperation, however dialogue is still far away.

In the rare interview, Elkin who serves as Minister of Immigrant Absorption and Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, told Elaph that the ground work has been laid for cooperation but that he still thinks that dialogue is a far way off, said Ynet. Continue Reading »

Israel’s Deputy FM: PA President Should Learn Some History

Deputy Foreign Minister Elkin suggests a trip to Israel’s ancient Galilee Druze town might do PA leader’s understanding of history some good.

Deputy Foreign Minister Zev Elkin returned Sunday from a weekend in the Galilee, during which he visited the village of Pekiin, including the town’s ancient synagogue.

Elkin followed his visit with a post to Facebook suggesting that Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas might benefit from a similar trip.

“Next time that Abu Mazen [Abbas – ed.] argues that the Palestinians are the original inhabitants of the land, going back thousands of years, it should be recommended that he visit Pekiin,” Elkin wrote. Continue Reading »
