Anti-Israel adherents continue to peddle the fiction that Jesus was a “Palestinian” who preached Islam.

According to Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), “One of the ways the Palestinian Authority attempts to create a Palestinian history is to deny the Judean/Jewish nationality of Jesus, and misrepresent him as a ‘Palestinian.’”

There exists a very real “history war” whereby Jewish history is being erased and replaced with an invented Palestinian history. According to PMW: “As part of its ongoing attempt to invent a Palestinian history, the Palestinian Authority tries to hitch a ride into the past with Jesus. Whereas the historical Jesus was a Jew living in Judea/Israel, the PA turns him into a ‘Palestinian’: ‘We must not forget that Messiah [Jesus] is a Palestinian, the son of Mary the Palestinian.’ [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Nov. 18, 2005] This is not only a distortion of Jesus’ personal history, but also an anachronism. The Romans changed the name of Judea/Israel to ‘Palestine’ 136 years after the birth of Jesus, to punish the Jewish nation after their unsuccessful rebellion. In another anomaly, Jesus is turned into a Shahid – a holy Martyr of Islam. Whereas Islamic teachings do view Jesus’ gospel as part of the Islamic prophetic tradition, nowhere does Islam refer to him as a Shahid.”

Writing in the Toronto Star on October 20, Ken Gallinger, dubbed an “ethically speaking columnist,” wrote the following non-sequitur statement: “Why are ‘good’ Christians so irredeemably more racist than their cousins outside the church? Incidentally, Jesus, the Palestinian, didn’t have blue eyes.”

While historical writings of the period and accepted Christian theology portray Jesus as a Jew living in the land of Judea/Israel, revisionist’s claim that Palestinians are the ones rightfully connected to and descended from Jesus.

Writing in the Times of Israel, Dan Calic said “Such outrageous claims negate virtually all known historical fact about who Jesus is, and portray him as part of an ancient nation of ‘Palestinians’ that in fact never existed. Their efforts go so far as to alter biblical scripture itself to fit their revisionist agenda… The notorious Nazi Joseph Goebbels once said ‘if you tell a lie often enough, and keep repeating it, people will believe you.’ This is precisely what these revisionists are counting on.”

By falsely portraying Jesus as being a Palestinian martyr, Star columnist Ken Gallinger’s commentary was tantamount to historical revisionism.
