Meanwhile, two Qassam rockets were fired from Gaza on Friday towards agricultural fields in the Negev’s Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.

Last week, the Iron Dome defense system intercepted a rocket which was fired at Ashkelon. Another rocket exploded in an open area in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.

Ashkelon residents who did not hear an alert before the Iron Dome system intercepted the incoming rocket took the explosion as a matter of course.

“I’m happy that Iron Dome system works, that even in a situation in which we’re in danger it manages to keep our lives quiet and peaceful,” Benny, a resident of Ashkelon, told Ynet.
