“Canada condemns in the strongest terms possible the recent wave of terror attacks against Israeli civilians that has resulted in a number of tragic deaths and injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims,” Kenney wrote in a statement on Wednesday.

“We are deeply concerned by escalating incitement and violence that does nothing to advance the interests of peace, stability, and security in the region. There can be no justification for these attacks, and we will continue to oppose efforts undermine Israel’s legitimacy or right to defend herself in the face of terror,” he added.

“As we have stated, a re-elected Conservative government will continue to advocate a negotiated two-state solution that will enable Israelis and Palestinians to live in security.”

Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his government have continuously supported Israel and continued to do so during last summer’s conflict in Gaza. The Canadian leader called on Canada’s allies and partners to recognize that Hamas’s terrorist acts “are unacceptable and that solidarity with Israel is the best way of stopping the conflict.”

He also blamed Hamas for the heavy loss of civilian life in Gaza during the fighting.
