California Senator Dianne Feinstein, speaking on CNN, warned Sunday that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s outspoken criticism of the Iran nuclear deal could “backfire on him.”

Feinstein, who is the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the framework deal struck with Iran is “a better agreement, candidly, than I thought it was ever going to be. I think that it can be a very serviceable, practical agreement, and it can signal a new day.”

“I don’t think it’s helpful for Israel to come out and oppose this one opportunity to change a major dynamic — which is a downhill dynamic — in this part of the world,” she said. “I wish that he would contain himself.”

In response to Netanyahu’s claim that the deal will develop into an arms race in the Middle East, Feinstein said that threat exists if there is no agreement.

Feinstein also reportedly said that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appear sincere in cooperating with world leaders and that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, “is agreeable.”

Khamenei has said of Israel, through his Twitter account: “This barbaric, wolflike & infanticidal regime of #Israel which spares no crime has no cure but to be annihilated.”

He also recently said, reportedly: “Of course yes, death to America, because America is the original source of this pressure. They insist on putting pressure on our dear people’s economy. What is their goal? Their goal is to put the people against the system.”

A coincidence Obama’s speech sounded so much like President Bill Clinton’s arguments for the deal he negotiated with North Korea?
It can be seen in this video:
