The ceremony was attended by Tourism Minister Uzi Landau and Taglit-Birthright CEO Gidi Mark, who met the 39 different groups hailing from Australia, Argentina, Russia, the United States, Germany and Canada.
The participants will join the list of over 350,000 previous program participants from 64 countries.
Landau told the crowd at the airport that “Israel will always be your home as tourists, immigrants, Jews and Zionists.”
Mark said, “The Birthright project has always strived to increase the number of participants who come to Israel every year. I am proud to announce a new record today. It is exciting to be able to bring to Israel thousands of young Jews, many of which have never been here.”
