The Knesset management will hold a contest for the design of a new Knesset logo that will replace its current one – the State’s emblem.
The Knesset has appointed a public committee on the matter, which among other issues, also dealt with the decision of who should design the parliament’s logo. Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein ultimately decided to allow any design or graphics student to submit an emblem.
Lastly, a committee that will be composed of a line of professionals headed by Knesset Director Ronen Plot will compile a shortlist of 10 pieces, that will be presented to the public online. The public will choose three outstanding works, which will be then be reviewed by the committee before it chooses the winner.
It was also decided that the candidates would have to integrate the State’s emblem into the design, and emphasize the Knesset as a symbol of democracy, home of the people, and the Knesset Members’ legislative work.
All 10 finalists will be rewarded with a cash prize, and the winning designer will receive a higher prize.
The special project is a joint venture of the Knesset and the Israeli Government Advertising Agency (LAPAM), and will be headed by LAPAM director Gadi Margalit and head of the Knesset’s content division Yotam Yakir.
