Netanyahu stressed that the State was “utilizing various means, in both defense and prevention, and acting responsibly. Our policy is clear – to defend as well as to thwart. Anyone who harms us should know and anyone who tries to harm us should know we will harm them back.”

The prime minister also addressed Wednesday’s chemical attack in Damascus suburbs, stating that “the possible reports regarding the possible use of chemical weapon in Syria raise a possibility that the most serious of crimes was perpetrated by the Syrian regime on its citizens.

“It’s absurd that UN inspectors, currently in Damascus in order to look into the possibility that chemical arms are in use are stopped by the Syrian regime from making it to the stricken areas,” he added.

Referring to regional threats, Netanyahu noted that “One must understand that Syria is Iran’s guinea pig. Iran is monitoring closely the world’s response to the heinous crimes executed by Syria and Hezbollah… The latest events only prove once more that the world’s most dangerous regimes cannot be in the possession of the world’s most dangerous weapons.”

Earlier Thursday, residents of Israel’s north reported to have heard blasts and air raid sirens. The Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted at least one rocket. Lebanese media reported that four rockets were fired from Lebanon.
