Foreign media outlets have reported that Zygier, an Israeli-Australian dual national, worked as a Mossad spy. He hanged himself in an Israeli prison in December 2010.

After a meeting with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden at the White House in Washington on Tuesday, Carr said that the Australian Foreign Ministry had asked Israel “for all information relevant to Australia’s concerns on this and we will continue to do that.”

”Australia has a clear interest, a distinct point of view on this — an objection to Australian passports being used by Australian citizens or dual citizens who are off working for foreign intelligence agencies,” Carr said.

Earlier this week, foreign media outlets reported that Zygier was imprisoned after a bungled and unauthorized bid to recruit a double agent with links to Hezbollah.
