Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Israel in December and will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior cabinet members and government officials.
During the visit, scheduled for Dec. 17, the Israeli officials and Wang will discuss the interim agreement signed with Iran in Geneva earlier this month, as Israel tries to weigh in on the final agreement world powers are trying to formulate with the Islamic republic.
Wang’s visit to Israel joins a series of meetings held by Netanyahu and some of his senior ministers with delegates from the countries negotiating with Iran.
Since the interim agreement was inked, several high-ranking officials have visited Israel, including U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman and British and French negotiators Simon Gass and Jacques Audibert. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to arrive in Israel on Wednesday.
Netanyahu met with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the crucial Geneva talks began, and had visited China in May.
