European Union Formally Limits Israel to Borders of 1949 Lines

For the 1st time, the EU formally forbids trade or agreements with Jewish representatives situated beyond 1949 Armistice lines, including the Golan Heights.

The European Union has issued orders forbidding its member states from cooperating, transferring funds, giving scholarships or research grants to bodies in Judea and Samaria, eastern Jerusalem , and even the Golan Heights, Haaretz wrote Tuesday.

The new instruction, promulgated bt the European Commission, which is the operative arm of the EU, sets parameters for cooperation between the EU and its members states, on the one hand, and Israeli governmental and private elements on the other. The instructions are for the years 2014 – 2020 and will go into force on Friday, July 18.

The decision also states that any future agreement signed with Israel must include a section that says the “settlements” are not part of sovereign Israel and therefore not included in the agreement.

A senior source in the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that the new EU decision is dramatic, and can be called “a true earthquake.”

“This is the first time in which a explicit and formal instruction like this is issued. Until now, there were silent understandings and agreements that the EU does not work beyond the Green Line” – as the 1949 Armistice Line is known – “but this is an official and binding prohibition.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Ze’ev Elkin said that the EU decision is “very worrisome” and will make it difficult for the state of Israel to conduct contacts with the EU regarding cooperation agreements.

  1. It’s no secret that if this actually happens, it’s the Arabs working in Jewish or gov’t factories/jobs who will be mostly affected and possibly loose employment.

This is known to the EU, so their decision is an obvious and blatant decision to demonize Israel. Pure anti-Semitism in its rawest form.

Israel MUST stop allowing it’s sovereignty to be challenged. It MUST stand up to this constant bullying & harassment from the European countries that comply. ALL representatives, Ashton in particular, should no longer be accorded a gov’t welcome or entry into any gov’t office. Let them sit in the ‘waiting room’ with all the luxuries it provides.

Apparently Israel’s last FM Lieberman was correct about 3 months ago, when he said it was time to declare the EU ‘irrelevant’.

After all, if THEY don’t see the Hezbollah as terrorists, then who the hell wants them as ‘friends’??!!

This is a good thing. We have not to forget that Europe is our enemy, These thing make us to be alert and do not sleep in glory thinking about Shoa has came to an end. Europe has simulated to be our friend 50 years, but the reality win.
This is the reality we face, it can bring us economical problem, but it is the last important thing.
I sorry for europeans, they decided to get rid of jews 60 years ago, now, we let them take a chance with islamics and arabs.

As an American, I could unilaterally declare that “Europe” doesn’t include anything north of the Danube. And my claim would be just as groundless and unenforceable as the E.U.’s is. The bigger issue is that God Himself defined Israel’s borders, and history would suggest that it’s not a good idea to contradict Him. The data (extremely specific, by the way) is stated in the Torah, Numbers 34.

  4. Like most political organizations when one wants to email them a response to their actions you can find a “link!” The fact that the UN and the EU dictate to Israel what they deem as conditions to peace still speaks of WWII and lessons not learned. The nations of Europe all suffered under Hitler, and it took other allied nations, namely America to deliver them from the destruction of Nazis. After the Holocaust Europe had a collective case of guilt over their treatment of the Jews, was the Balfour Declaration and the naming of the Land of Israel, there way of smoothing over their guilt? If so they’ve learn nothing, and their acts of contrition show a clear streak of hypocrisy.

So sad to be a Euopean. Where is the Roman Catholic Curch of Euope now. It did nothing during the Holocaust and it is doing nothing now. But anyway the so call Christian countries have no respect or apparent fear for the word of one and only true God. Europe should support Isreal, if not for doing what is right they should do it for a selfish reason for God said about Isreal in Genesis 12:3 KJV
“And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed”. It is there for anyone to read and take note.

Israel, trust in the Lord God Psalm 20:7 ays “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God”. Lord forgive us for we know not what we do.

I live in Sapin and am therefore a European. My wife and I are Evangelical Christians and are abhorred by this decision of the EU. We must all ever remember that Israel is God’s chosen people and that His covenant to Abraham, Isaac and Israel (Jacob) stands eternal. It doesn’t matter what the Roman Catholic Church or the Replacement Theology Churches say or how they act, God’s Word is final and eternal. It shall never pass away. May God bless Israel, preserve her and protect all her citizens. We Christians, who read and study our Bibles, both Old and New Testament, know that Israel will defeat all herenemies and Jerusalem will be the Metropolis of the earth. Psalm 119:160 “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever”. All who read this may not agree with my stance on Holy Scripture but as it says in Acts 27:25 “I believe God”.
Politicians will be answerable to Him. God bless Israel!!!

I wish Israel would start building cars. Right now, I’m almost ashamed to be driving a Volkswagen. Come on guys, you can do it!

  10. ENewZealand says:

Israel, please do NOT be dictated to by Europe or anyone else. European countries who conquered a quarter of the earth and took what they wanted have no right to tell Israel that they can’t claim land that was promised to them by God. This is pure ignorance and hypocracy.
Let the U.N say what they want, it doesn t make the slightest difference to God and his promises to the Jewish people. Jews have got to understand that the Catholic Church and the Evangelical Church are two different things. The Roman Catholic Church is a distorted form a the true church that started in Jerusalem. There are good and bad in both churches but Evangelical Christians are spirit filled and understand the Scriptures, and understand God’s covenant with the Jewish People.
All throughout your history Israel, Satan has been hell bent on destroying you, as if to prevent God,s plan for redemption coming from you.
I encourage all Jews to read the Torah, and know their history.
We are with you Israel, you are not alone.
