IAF aircraft struck two underground rocket launchers in the Gaza Strip on Thursday in response to earlier mortar fire from the coastal territory into southern Israel.

Palestinians did not report any injuries or damage in the strike.

The IAF strikes came after two mortar shells were fired into southern Israel from Gaza on Wednesday morning. No injuries or damage were reported in the attacks.

The hostilities occurred as Israel was marking one year since it began Operation Pillar of Defense to root out terror infrastructure in Gaza.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday said that Hamas is manufacturing and storing rockets in Gaza residential areas, and although Israel will strictly uphold international law, it will not “sit on its hands” in the face of terrorist threats.
