French right-wing leader threatens Madonna with lawsuit over swastika image

At her recent concert in Ramat Gan Stadium, Madonna performed while showing a video of Marine Le Pen with a swastika affixed to her forehead.

Marine Le Pen, leader of France’s National Front party, said Wednesday that she will sue Madonna if the pop superstar uses a controversial image of Le Pen in her concerts in France.

At her recent concert in Ramat Gan Stadium, Madonna performed the song “Nobody Knows Me” while showing a video in which her face was collaged with a number of well-known personalities.

The face of Marine Le Pen appeared for a few seconds with a swastika affixed to her forehead before dissolving into a composite character resembling Adolf Hitler.

The concert, which opened Madonna’s 65-city MDNA world tour, received mixed reviews from the international press, which provided extensive coverage – around 80 foreign journalists were here for the performance.

“We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes,” Le Pen told the Daily Mail. “If she does that in France, we’ll be waiting.”
