A Hamas terrorist was killed on Sunday when a tunnel collapsed on him in central Gaza.

The terrorist, a member of Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades, was identified as Tha’er Nayef az-Zare’ey, 30.

Several dozen Hamas terrorists have died in tunnel collapses over the last two years, as Hamas has been busily reconstructing its terror tunnel network breaching into Israeli territory and which was targeted by Israel during the 2014 counterterror operation.

Israel has also taken action in dealing with the terror tunnel threat, having several times demolished tunnels built by terrorists and breaching Israeli territory.

Last month, the IDF demolished an offensive terror tunnel in the Kerem Shalom area in southern Israel.

Hamas, however, denied the tunnel was operational and claimed the IDF exposed an old tunnel that is not in use.
