Karnit Goldwasser, whose husband Ehud was kidnapped and murdered by Hizbullah terrorists in 2006, attacked the terror group and the European Union after a Lebanese television station showed a video which documents the Hizbullah squad as it attacked her husband’s jeep.

“This is another manipulation by [Hizbullah head] Nasrallah,” Goldwasser said in an interview on Channel 2 News on Saturday evening. “The first manipulation was when he kidnapped our loved ones for vile purposes. That’s the difference between human beings and those who say they are human beings. Unfortunately the film doesn’t tell us anything new, because the only question that remains open is whether they were on their feet or not when they were kidnapped, and the video stopped exactly at this point.”

The footage screened by the Al Mayadeen network on Friday shows a Hizbullah squad, under the command of Imad Mughniyeh, crossing the border fence and opening fire at IDF jeeps stationed near the border. Within minutes of the exchange of fire which ensues, the jeep in which Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, the second soldier who was kidnapped, is seen damaged and the assault on it is then shown. At that point the image freezes.

In response to Regev and Goldwasser’s kidnapping on July 12, 2006, Israel launched the Second Lebanon War, in which 165 Israeli civilians and soldiers were killed, with Israel sustaining billions of dollars in damage due to the tens of thousands of missiles fired by Hizbullah on northern Israel.

The bodies of Goldwasser and Regev were returned by Hizbullah in 2008, in exchange for several top Hizbullah terrorists and the bodies of more than a hundred dead terrorists from various other groups as well. It is believed that the two IDF soldiers were killed either during the attack or shortly thereafter. Hizbullah, however, has never commented on the condition of the soldiers until it handed over their remains, and has not raised the issue since.

Karnit Goldwasser directly attacked Hizbullah leader Nasrallah, saying, “From the moment he kidnapped Udi, he has not seen the light of day. I wish for him to continue not to see the light of day and to finish like bin Laden and Mughniyeh – they too thought they would live for many years.”

“I want to ask the European Union who watched the film and still does not want to list Hizbullah as a terrorist organization – if this is not an act of terrorism, then what is?” added Goldwasser. “This video hurts us all. It hurts every person who was with us and experienced the tragic end with us.”
