In the fully-Israeli-controlled parts of the West Bank, termed Area C, there are to be no new building permits for EU projects, and existing permits will not be renewed.

Additionally, EU officials will no longer receive permission from Israel to visit from certain parts of the West Bank or the Gaza Strip, and all working meetings between the army, the government and EU representatives have been canceled.

The directive came in response to the EU’s recent decision to boycott all Jewish businesses with a presence in what it calls the “occupied territories.”

The European Union has a number of ongoing projects in the Palestinian-controlled areas, including a program to train Palestinian police forces. The new Israeli position will make it difficult for EU representatives to travel to Palestinian areas and maintain their projects.
