An Israeli soldier has found himself at the heart of dispute with world-famous pop star Miley Cyrus over an app parodying her hit video “Wrecking Ball.”
When 20-year-old Tal Dahabani developed the “Flying Cyrus” game, he never imagined he would get a lawsuit threat from the famous singer.
In the game, the player is required to help a drawing of Cyrus’s head to avoid hammers and wrecking balls.
The application has been a phenomenal success, with five million downloads, and even rising to fifth place in the Apple store’s games chart in the US and other countries.
However, Miley Cyrus didn’t like the joke on her, as Dahabani discovered when he received a lawsuit threat from Cyrus’ lawyers. They demanded that he remove the app or they would take legal action. According to Cyrus’ lawyers, the application makes unauthorized use of Cyrus’ trademark and name.
Dahabani’s lawyer, Erez Mizrahi, says that his client rejects the allegations, and that they are now working with the singer’s lawyers to resolve the dispute.
