IDF troops are scouring the area.

According to preliminary evaluations, the hits are most likely the result of Syrian battles’ stray shooting.

According to the IDF Northern Command, the mortar shells hit some 800 meters (roughly 870 yards) from the Israeli-Syrian border.

On Wednesday, a Syrian tank shell landed in an open area, also the result of a misfire during battles between Syrian rebels and Assad’s forces.

“This is the second time this week that this happens for the same reason – the Syrian civil war,” Golan Regional Council Director Eli Malka said. “Battles have been intensifying there since this morning, and tomorrow we intend to have an evaluation with the IDF.”

Malka added, “This is misfire and that happens in war. There’s no reason to disrupt our routines and at the moment there’s no area in the Golan that people should avoid due to the shooting.”

UN forces in the Golan Heights were informed of the hits, IDF Northern Command reported.
