Palestinian Elders Trying to Counter Abbas’ Incitement By Stopping Kids From Attacking Jews

It is clear that a majority of average Palestinians just want to live a normal life, as the village elders & parents have been observed taking action to keep the younger generation from taking part in violence.

Israel’s Channel 2 News reported this week that elders and other adults in many Palestinian villages are desperate to keep the younger generations from participating in the current wave of terrorism against Israelis.

This is due to the fact that villages from which terrorists originate suffer severe economic impact due to their violent activities.

In order to create deterrence, Israel routinely seals off the villages of terrorists and rescinds all entry permits previously granted to local residents who hold jobs in Israel-proper.

These collective punitive actions have a detrimental effect that older Palestinian villagers are no longer willing to tolerate.

According to Channel 2, several times in recent weeks Palestinian village elders and parents were observed taking action to keep the younger generation from taking part in violence.

It is clear that a majority of average Palestinians just want to live a normal life. And attacks have decreased of late, partly because of Israeli security actions in cooperation with Palestinian security forces, and partly because of the aforementioned frustration of the older generation.

Despite public threats by Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to cut ties with Israel, his security forces do continue to work closely with Israel. Though the Palestinian leadership seems to continuously shoot itself (and chances for peace) in the foot by simultaneously excusing and even glorifying successful acts of terror.
