State-owned Israel Aerospace Industries signs an additional contract worth $777 million to supply the Barak 8, LRSAM air and missile defense systems on 7 Indian navy ships.

State-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has won an additional $777 million contract to supply LRSAM air and missile defense systems to seven ships in the Indian navy, the company said on Wednesday.

The contract is with India’s state-owned Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), which is the main contractor in the project, IAI said.The LRSAM, part of the Barak 8 family, is an air and missile defense system used by Israel’s navy as well as India’s navy, air and land forces. Continue Reading »

India successfully conducts latest test of jointly developed Barak 8 missile system

 

Barak 8, vital in any future Israeli conflict with Hezbollah, is a jointly developed Indian-Israeli surface-to-air missile (SAM), designed to defend against any type of airborne threat including anti-ship missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft such as drones (UAVs) helicopters, and combat jets out to a maximum range of 70 km. has once more been successfully tested by the Indian government on Tuesday.

India carried out a successful test of the Israeli made Barak 8 surface to air missile last week. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), which produces the missile, carried out a successful joint test with the Indian Ministry of Defense and Indian Air Force. Israel’s offshore gas-fields to be protected by ‘Barak-8 Dome’

 

Following third & final series of successful tests, Israel’s offshore gas interests will shortly receive the advanced Barak 8 missile defense system to counter all foreign threats.

India successfully test-fired on Wednesday the Barak 8, a new long range surface-to-air missile capable of countering aerial threats at extended ranges, which was jointly developed with Israel.

The Israel Aerospace Industries, which held a successful test of the Barak 8 missile last month, said that the two tests held by the Indian Navy on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning complete a series of three consecutive tests which “reinforces the impressive operational capabilities of the system,” said IAI director Yossi Weiss.
