Germany has received approval from Israel and the United States to purchase the Arrow-3 missile defense system, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

German legislators have in the past pushed for Berlin to buy Israel’s Iron Dome system to ward off aerial threats, but on Monday the head of the German Air Force Lt. Gen. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Marlborough Communications Limited (MCL) were awarded a contract to deliver four autonomous combat vehicles to the United Kingdom to enhance the British Armed Forces’ military capabilities, the companies announced on Wednesday.

Israel’s spacecraft ‘Beresheet’ successfully maneuvers around the moon

The engineering teams of SpaceIL & IAI successfully performed their first maneuver around the moon, taking more photos of the far side from 550 km from the moon and 2500 km from the moon.

On Sunday morning at 04:36, the engineering team of SpaceIL and IAI, successfully performed the first maneuver around the moon.

During the maneuver, Beresheet’s engines operated for about 271 seconds and the amount of fuel burned was approximately 55 kg.

Israeli built wings for F-35 keeps fighter-jet undetectable

The Israeli production line for 1622 stealth wings for the F-35 fighter-jet is expected to generate revenues estimated at $2.5 billion over the next 10-15 years.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has launched a production line for the outer wing set of the F-35 stealth fighter key component to make the advanced fighter jet invisible to radar, the company announced.

State-owned Israel Aerospace Industries signs an additional contract worth $777 million to supply the Barak 8, LRSAM air and missile defense systems on 7 Indian navy ships.

State-owned Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has won an additional $777 million contract to supply LRSAM air and missile defense systems to seven ships in the Indian navy, the company said on Wednesday.

The contract is with India’s state-owned Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), which is the main contractor in the project, IAI said.The LRSAM, part of the Barak 8 family, is an air and missile defense system used by Israel’s navy as well as India’s navy, air and land forces. Continue Reading »

Czech Republic-based Aero Vodochody and Israel Aerospace Industries have signed a partnership agreement to develop and market an advanced version of the L-159 trainer and light attack aircraft.

Vidochody, the largest Czech aircraft manufacturer and IAI will integrate new state-of-the-art avionics and other solutions on the L-159 platform and will jointly market the aircraft. Israel’s spacecraft to the moon begins construction

SpaceIL has undertaken to promote scientific & technological education in Israel, working with Israel Aerospace Industries that is currently assembling SpaceIL’s spacecraft to inspire the next generation in Israel to study science, engineering, technology and mathematics.

SpaceIL, the Israeli representative in the Google Lunar XPRIZE competition, is making giant strides to land the first Israeli spacecraft on the moon, after the base structure of the craft was received at IAI facilities earlier this week.

The skeleton of the spacecraft consists of two perforated “sandwich” boards, upper and lower plates and a cone ring structure.

These components, designed by an aerospace industry and manufactured in Spain by IberEspacio, complement the sub-system structure of the spacecraft to be launched to the moon during the coming year. Continue Reading »

After three years of development, Israel Aerospace Industries has begun testing its Counter Improvised Explosive Device and Mine Suite mobile system.

The system can identify, locate and destroy improvised explosive devices and mines before troops even reach them.

German parliamentary members block billion-dollar drone deal with Israel

 

Members of Germany’s Social Democratic Party blocked a deal involving the leasing of IAI’s advanced Heron-2 drones after having learned during a visit to Israel that the models being sent to Germany had offensive capabilities.

A billion-dollar deal which would have seen Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) leasing Heron-2 drones to the German Air Force was scrapped Wednesday from the German agenda amid objections by coalition parties opposed to their offensive capabilities.

Opposition to the deal was first raised last week after members of parliament paid a visit to the industrial compound in Israel and expressed dismay at the discovery that the drones were already equipped with weapons systems which were almost ready to begin operations from the air. The Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) signed a $10 million contract with the city of Shantou in Guangdong Province on Thursday to build a training center where Israeli teams will teach the Chinese to maintain passenger aircraft.
