Dutch Court won’t charge local company on Israel’s ‘Security Wall’

A Palestinian rights organization al-Haq & Dutch lawyer had petitioned the Dutch courts to prosecute Lima Holding B.V. for war crimes for providing equipment for constructing  Israel’s ‘Security Wall’.

 

 

Dutch authorities say they will not prosecute a company for renting out equipment used to construct Israel’s West Bank separation fence.

A Dutch lawyer and Palestinian rights organization al-Haq had asked the Dutch to prosecute Lima Holding B.V. for war crimes for providing the equipment.

In a statement Tuesday, the National Prosecutions Office said that investigations revealed that Lima, known in the Netherlands as Riwal, rented cranes and aerial platforms that were used in construction work in the occupied territories. Continue Reading »

A woman who played a central role in the public trial of ex-president Moshe Katzav, now in jail for rape, is facing accusations of stalking.

Known to the public only as “Aleph of the President’s Residence,” the woman was the first to publicly accuse Katzav of raping her. The matter became public when Katzav went to the attorney general and complained that Aleph was blackmailing him, and demanding $200,000.

Israel’s media featured Aleph’s complaints against Katzav in an unprecedented live press conference that disguised her identity through pixellation, as she hurled extreme and explicit accusations at Katzav. Continue Reading »

Families of those killed on the Mavi Marmara vow to press on with lawsuits

The families said that they would look to an int’l court claiming the Turkish judiciary did not properly perform its duties, if the trials are dropped in Turkey.

JERUSALEM–- Families of the Turkish nationals injured in Israel’s raid on the Mavi Marmara said they will sue Israeli soldiers and their commanders despite an agreement between Turkey and Israel.

Under the agreement, the families would receive up to 20 times the amount of compensation they are seeking in their civil lawsuits, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınc told the Turkish Daily Zaman, the news service reported Sunday.

Arab Journalist sentenced to a year in prison by Palestinian Authority court after posting photo comparing Abbas’s face to a fictional villain on a Syrian TV show.

Palestinian journalist Mamdouh Hamamreh from Bethlehem was sentenced on Thursday to one year in prison for “insulting” Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Facebook.

He is the second Palestinian to be sentenced to prison for one year on the same charges since the beginning of the year.

Hamamreh, who works for the Palestinian Al-Quds TV station, was found guilty of sharing a photo on Facebook that compared Abbas with a villain who played the role of a French spy in a popular Syrian TV series.

Hamas Condemns Gazan to Death by Strangulation for Spying for Israel

A man from Gaza was sentenced to death by strangulation by Hamas after he was convicted of spying for “an enemy entity”.

Gaza’s Hamas terrorist rulers have sentenced a man to death for collaborating with Israel.

A statement on Sunday by Gaza’s Interior Ministry, translated by Arab affairs expert Dalit Halevi, had said that a military court had sentenced the man to death by strangulation. He was, according to the statement, convicted of providing information to “hostile elements” in Israel.

Badr al-Din Badr, head of the communications department of the Interior Ministry, said in the statement that the agent who was sentenced to death was arrested quite some time ago by security forces, and had failed to turn himself in as part of two previous campaigns that allowed agents to turn themselves into the government and be pardoned under certain conditions. The Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday in the case of several tents put up by Palestinian Authority resident activists in the E-1 neighborhood of Maaleh Adumim. The tents were put up shortly after the PA objected to Israeli plans to build in the area.

The High Court of Justice has issued a temporary injunction barring the State from removing an outpost erected by Palestinians in the West Bank as long as there isn’t an emergency warranting an evacuation.

The test program will continue for 2 years, will be voluntary for Israelis 16 & older.

The pilot program for the biometric database will greatly enhance the ability of authorities to identify terrorists, supporters of the project say – while those opposed believe that the program will give the state unprecedented opportunity to control the lives of Israelis.
