Egypt’s Brotherhood & Hamas say Israelis orchedtrated Sinai attack

Muslim Brotherhood suggests the attack “can be attributed to Mossad” to undermine Morsy; Hamas & Palestinian groups accuse Israel with aim of driving wedge between Palestinians & Egypt.

The Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas each blamed Israel Monday for orchestrating a terrorist attack in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula which killed 16 Egyptian soldiers and wounded seven a day earlier. The accusations prompted a swift dismissal from Israel, which was also targeted in the attack.

Jihad terrorists are threatening to take over the Sinai, says U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who added it will be a problem for Egypt and the United States as well as for Israel.

The West’s embrace of the Muslim Brotherhood

The rhetoric of the Muslim Brotherhood is the best proof that it still remains an organization advocating violence. General Guide in Egypt, Muhammad al-Badi’, published a  message on the Muslim Brotherhood website opposing negotiations with Israel and adding that “Palestine will not be liberated by hopes and prayers, but rather by Jihad and sacrifice.”

Replica of ancient Egypt synagogue arrives at Tel Aviv museum

 With its awe-inspiring size and boulevard lined with columns, the Eliyahu Hanavi synagogue of Alexandria once served a community of 40,000 Jews. Today, a miniature version is available for Israelis and tourists to admire.

 

 

While Egypt was voting in a new president over the weekend, a replica of an ancient Egyptian synagogue arrived in Tel Aviv’s Beit Hatfutsot – The Museum of the Jewish People. The model of the magnificent Eliyahu Hanavi synagogue from Alexandria was added to the museum’s permanent collection on Monday, where it joined 20 other models of synagogues from around the world. Egypt Bans Film ‘Promoting’ Normalization of Ties with Israel

Egypt has ceased the production of a film for allegedly promoting the normalization of relations with Israel.

 

Egypt has ceased the production of a film for allegedly promoting the normalization of relations with Israel, Al-Ahram reported.

Mohamed Kenawy who wrote the film’s script, denied the accusation and said the film, titled Regheef Aish (Loaf of Bread), promotes peace and cooperation among all people regardless of sex, race and religion.

The story, which revolves around an Egyptian, a ‘Palestinian’ and an Israeli, examines life in the Arab world.

Carter: Egypt’s Brotherhood would keep Israel treaty‎

Former US president says Muslim Brotherhood has no intention of reneging on 33-year-old peace treaty with Israel

 

The Muslim Brotherhood may seek to modify, but will not annul Egypt’s 33-year-old peace treaty with Israel, former US President Jimmy Carter said on Saturday.

Carter, 87, was speaking after initial vote tallies put the Brotherhood’s candidate ahead in the first round of Egypt’s presidential election, which his Carter Center helped monitor.

The US statesman, who brought together Israeli leader Menachem Begin and Egypt’s Anwar Sadat in 1978 to agree the Camp David accords which led to a 1979 treaty, said he had held long discussions with senior Brotherhood figures in Egypt this week. Continue Reading »

Egyptians to Ynet: Peace treaty will be upheld

Day before historic presidential elections kick off, citizens revel in newfound freedoms, but fear Muslim Brotherhood victory

 

“The peace treaty with Israel will be upheld regardless of whether the next president will be an Islamist or a remnant of the Mubarak regime,” a 20-year-old Egyptian literature student told Ynet late Monday, a little more than 24 hours before Egypt‘s first post-Mubarak presidential election is due to kick off.

As public debate on the issue of refugees and infiltrators from Africa heats up, the Defense Ministry is expediting work on the border fence in the Eilat Mountains.

Since the completion of the western part of the fence, on the Egyptian border, African infiltrators have been forced to detour south to find an ingress – sometimes through dangerous mountain terrain that stretches for 14 kilometers and is marked by canyons and cliffs up to 170 meters high. Leading Egypt candidate calls ‘racist’ Israel a threat

A leading Islamist candidate in Egypt’s presidential election has branded Israel a “racist state” and said a shared 1979 peace treaty was “a national security threat” that should be revised.

Fotouh also denounced al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden’s assassination by US special forces as an act of “state terrorism,” in a late Saturday Egyptian television interview.

Abul Fotouh, a front runner in the May 23-24 election according to polls, had earlier described Israel as an “enemy” in a televised debate with his main contender, former foreign minister and Arab League chief Amr Moussa. Continue Reading »

Report: Israel, Egypt to sign prisoner swap

Egyptian paper al Aheam claims Cairo, Jerusalem to sign deal on Saturday that will see Israeli citizen Ouda Tarabin freed in exchange for 63 Egyptian prisoners held in Israel

 

Egyptian newspaper al Ahram quoted security officials as saying that a prisoner swap deal, which will see Israeli citizen Ouda Tarabin freed in exchange for over 63 Egyptian prisoners held in Israel, will be signed on Saturday.
