Eli Wiesel, a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, received the President’s Medal of Distinction from President Shimon Peres Monday night. He received the prize for “his unique contribution to the memorial of the Holocaust and in light of his uncompromising drive for peace and tolerance.” The medal is the highest civilian award in Israel, which was also given to US President Barack Obama when he visited Israel.
