4 IDF soldiers hurt by blast on Israel-Syrian border

 

 

Four Israeli soldiers were wounded Tuesday after an explosive device was detonated on their patrol along the Syrian border, near the Druze village of Majdal Shams.

Israel responded to the explosion with artillery fire on the Syrian city of Quneitra, where the assailants were believed to have hailed from and air force jets have reportedly been circling over the northern Golan Heights.

The army also instructed local farmers to evacuate the area and all construction works on the Syrian border fence have been temporarily halted.

5 Rockets fired at northern Israel, “double war crimes” under cover of Lebanese gov’t

One rocket exploded just west of Kiryat Shmona, though apparently 5 were launched.

At least five Katyusha rockets were fired from Lebanon at northern Israel on Sunday, one of which exploded inside of Israeli territory. No casualties or damage were reported.

The military confirmed that a 122-mm rocket, apparently a Russian-made Katyusha, exploded in an open area west of the city. Continue Reading »

Two Katyusha rockets fell in Israel’s North Sunday.

The rocket fire was heard at about 7:00 am, near the city of Kiryat Shmona. Kiryat Shmona is close to the Lebanese border.

No casualties have been reported.

Local residents reported explosions and alerted security forces, who then combed the area to locate the points of impact and the launch site. Residents reported clouds of smoke billowing from the impact sites. Continue Reading »

Artillery Corps seeks more recruits in growing northern role

 

Israel’s Artillery Corps is becoming a strategic force on Israel’s Syrian border, where it responds with lethal surface-to-surface missiles at enemy positions.

 

With a new precision rocket battalion also coming into service soon, the Artillery Corps, which maintains the Ground Forces’ only drone unit, is hoping that its growing role will attract more young recruits. On Tuesday, the Corps is set to learn how many Israeli youths from the November round of draftees signed up with the Artillery Corps.
