Arab Newspaper: ‘Israel wants to save Assad’

Ranking rebel leader suggests that Israel is aiding the Syrian regime because it allowed Syrian forces to enter UN-controlled areas of the Syrian part of the Golan Heights.

Mustafa al-Sheikh, the head of the Free Syrian Army‘s military council commented on recent tensions on the Golan Heights and said that “Israelis aiding the Syrian regime and its allies in accordance with their partnership.”

In an interview with the London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat, al-Sheikh said that “this agreement was clearly evident when Israel allowed Syrian forces to enter UN-controlled zones in the Golan without any objection. Continue Reading »

After Syrian shell hits Golan, IDF fires warning shot into Syria

Today’s incident marks 1st time IDF has fired at Syria since 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Israel says further attacks from Syria will “illicit a vigorous response” from IDF, gov’t sends letter to UN warning Syrians to avoid spillover.

The IDF fired a warning shot at the Syrian military on Sunday, after a Syrian shell landed in the Golan Heights for the second time in recent days.

Israel has not fired at Syria since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

“In the midst of Syrian infighting, a mortar shell fired by the Syrian army struck near an outpost at Tel Hazeka,” IDF spokesman Brig.-Gen.

3 Syrian tanks enter Golan Heights buffer zone in breach of ceasefire agreement

Defense establishment believes move was related to infighting, but raises military alert in Golan Heights

Israel lodges complaint to UN over violation of ceasefire agreement.

Three Syrian tanks entered the demilitarized buffer zone in the Golan Heights Saturday, encroaching on the decades-old ceasefire agreement between Jerusalem and Damascus.

The tanks, belonging to Syrian President Bashar Assad’s army, entered Bit Ajam, close to an IDF post.

Israel lodged a complaint with the United Nations over the ceasefire agreement violation, though the defense establishment assessed that the tank movement was related to Syria’s internal conflict and not intended as an act of aggression against the Jewish state.

Al Arabiya Reports that Syria Sought Security Cooperation with Israel

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad sought cross border cooperation with the State of Israel, according to Classified documents obtained by the Al Arabiya network.

Classified documents obtained by the Al Arabiya network and released Thursday have revealed that the Syrian regime moved a chemical weapons stockpile with the help of Iran and knowledge of Russia.

Furthermore, additional documents also reveal that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad has also sought cross border cooperation with the State of Israel.

The confidential files were acquired by Al Arabiya with the assistance of members of the Syrian opposition who refused to elaborate on how they got hold of the documents. Continue Reading »

Israel strengthens its security on Syria border

IDF deploys troops and adds barbed wire to border fence with Syria in order to bar refugees & terrorists from entering Israel.

Israel bolstered security along its border with Syria on Thursday as fighting between Syrian rebels and President Bashar Assad‘s regime intensified, Israeli security sources told AFP.

“The IDF is reinforcing the fence between Israel and Syria by adding more barbed wire,” one Israeli official said, indicating that it was motivated by “fears that refugees from the Syrian side could cross it.”

With the clashes spreading across the Syrian side of the border, Israeli troops were put on “very high” alert, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity. Continue Reading »

Golan Heights: Syrian infiltrates Israel

Defense sources say this isn’t first time Syrian citizen tries to breach border; man questioned by security forces

A Syrian man infiltrated Israelvia the northern Golan Heights and was caught near the border after touching the fence. IDF forces turned him over for questioning with security forces.

Sources in the defense establishment said this is not the first time this year that a Syrian citizen tries to infiltrate Israel via the Golan Heights.
